Aflexi @HostingCon09, Washington D.C.
After a year of development and enhancement, we were proud to present our “baby” to the hosting world on August 11th, 2009 at HostingCon09, in Washington D.C. It took us about twenty-seven hours to arrive there from Kuala Lumpur, with two transits in between at Seoul, Korea and Atlanta, USA. The long journey was of course very tiring, but we were all excited about the launch.

We have got lots of good feedback about our marketing material, merchandise and especially our product -- some even checked us out before the event. While attending the event, a key point was reinforced for us: the hosting industry is no longer very "traditional" in that many people in the business and industry are not directly involved in providing hosting services, nor do many hosting companies provide only hosting services.
We also received a lot of good feedback. Generally, it fit the following themes:
- 1. Many operators appreciated that Aflexi enabled them to run their own CDN
- 2. They liked the idea for being brandable
- 3. Our fees are attractive and affordable
- 4. Many were shocked that a single license can be installed on multiple servers
- 5. Everyone loves the idea of Aflexi FlexiMart -- they thought it is awesome!
We got several immediate sign-ups during HostingCon, and have received virtually non-stop inquiries about partnerships from data centers. A pretty good numbers of operators and web publishers' sign-up daily, too, after being introduced to Aflexi at the convention.
As for negative feedback, all we received were some inquiries asking "Why Wasn't the Aflexi CDN developed earlier?"
I also attended a talk about "Following Web Hosting Trends" by Philbert Shih, of Tier1 Research. According to Philbert's research, growth is slowing down, and companies need more innovative applications to sustain and grow your business in today's competitive environment. One of the strategies he mentioned in his presentation is to seek partnerships to help expand your products and services -- that's something Aflexi CDN definitely fits into.
